Redemptions are a special kind of contract that react whenever an NFT is sent to them.
If the right amount of the correct NFT is sent, they simply mint a new NFT to the sender of the incoming NFTs.
This is a simple, easy way to set up new mints for existing collectors where they trade in previous editions in return for a new edition.
