A Marathon Mint is a dynamic NFT drop that flips the script on traditional minting mechanics. Instead of reducing the available minting time, Marathon Mints add time with each new mint. This mechanic extends the minting process as collectors continue to engage, creating a more relaxed but equally exciting experience for those participating.

Key Features of a Marathon Mint:

  • Increasing Mint Time: Each time a collector mints an edition, a specific amount of time is added to the minting period, extending the edition's availability and allowing more collectors to participate.

  • Extended Engagement: The duration of the mint is flexible and changes based on collector activity. As more editions are minted, the remaining time to mint increases, giving the drop a marathon-like pace.

Here's How to Get Started:

Before deploying your contract make sure to bridge some ETH to Shape.

  1. Use an official Shape bridge.

  2. Connect your wallet and ensure you're on the Ethereum network.

  3. Specify the amount of ETH you want to bridge.

  4. Confirm the transaction and wait for it to be processed.

  1. Deploy Your 1155 Contract: Begin by deploying an ERC-1155 contract on Shape. This contract will be the foundation for your Marathon Mint.

  2. Mint Your Token: Mint the token for the pieces you want to include in the open edition. If no editions are reserved, mint a token quantity of 0. If you wish to reserve a specific number of editions for yourself, specify the quantity and mint to your wallet address.

  3. Create Your Stack: Navigate to the contract dashboard and select "Create Stack" to set up your mint page. Choose the 1155 token that you want to use for your Marathon Mint. Currently, you can only create one artwork edition per mint page.

  4. Name Your Stack and Set URL: Name your Stack and customize the URL slug if necessary. Collectors will find your mint page at this URL.

  5. Add Your Payout Address: Enter the wallet address where the primary sales revenue will be sent. This ensures you receive payment directly from the mint.

  6. Set Your Mint Start Date and Time: Choose the date and time when your mint will go live. If you’re planning a pre-sale, this will be the start time for the pre-sale mint.

  7. Select "Marathon Mint" for the Mint Mechanic

  8. Configure your Marathon Mint:

    • Set your mint duration: Options include 12 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours, and 1 week.

    • Set your time increment: The time increment refers to the time added to the sale clock with each NFT sold. Options include 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes, 4 minutes, 5 minutes, and 10 minutes.

    • Specify your public sale price.

    • Specify the maximum mint allowance during the public sale.

  9. Configure your Stacks Page & Launch Your Marathon Mint: Once everything is set up, launch your Marathon Mint and watch as collectors engage, adding time to the clock and building momentum as the mint progresses.
