T.R.A.C.E. is our solution designed to authenticate and journal the journey of physical artworks through blockchain technology. T.R.A.C.E. stands for Tokenized Records for Artwork Certification and Evolution, combining physical technology with smart contracts to secure your art's legacy and legitimacy.

NOTE: Scanning chips does not work from mobile wallet browsers; please use regular mobile browsers. TRACE can only be set up via Desktop (If you only have a mobile wallet, we suggest using desktop + wallet connect to login)

We have streamlined the deployment of T.R.A.C.E. Certificates of Authenticity (dCOA) with a self-service flow directly within The Lab, making it easier than ever for creators to secure their works and legacy.

  1. Ask your third-party contact to scan the chip at https://transient.xyz/tech/trace/scan.

  2. Connect your phone by scanning the QR code on your laptop & then scanning the chip with your phone's NFC reader.

  3. Ask the third-party contact to send you the public key. This is different from the wallet address.

  4. Log into your Lab account and create a new contract.

  5. Name your T.R.A.C.E. Contract, add your contract symbol, and select "T.R.A.C.E." from the type of contract drop-down.

3. Proceed to the next step. ASCII art is optional for creators, so you can preview and skip this if you don't want any!

4. Select your blockchain. T.R.A.C.E. is supported on Base & Arbitrum.

5. Set the Royalty percentage and add a royalty recipient address. This will be on-chain, so collectors/marketplaces/auction houses that abide by royalties can send your specified royalty % directly to you.

6. Deploy your contract.

7. Create your TRACE token/dCOA (digital certificate of authenticity)

  • Add the title of your artwork.

  • Add a description for the piece.

  • Add the token media. We recommend that this be a picture of the physical artwork. (the T.R.A.C.E. holographic border is automatically applied to your token media)
    d. Add any attributes & tags

8. Preview your token.

9. Mint your token (add onchain)

10. Click "Manually Link T.R.A.C.E. Chip"

11. Paste the chip's Public Key (this is the long key that the third party sent you) & click "continue"

12. Once confirmed, you'll be taken to this pop-up to finalize the minting and linking of the T.R.A.C.E. COA.

13. You're all set! Now, the third-party contact can apply the chip to the physical.
